Two weeks ago I posted What Does Concordance Mean? This post is about how we do it - How do we accurately map 40+ company identifiers together so our customers can get a single, precise view of a company, whether they are searching for information on Alacra or they have integrated our concordance file into their CRM or other internal system. The process is summarized in this slide.
We use dozens of sources to ensure our concordance file is accurate and up-to-date. These sources fall into one of two categories: exchange feeds and bulletins or updates from our content providers. Each source is run through Alacra's proprietary concordance software and alerts our team of content analysts of potential changes in a company identifier or any type of corporate action. Once a corporate action has been discovered, our analysts verify changes by scouring a list of primary and secondary sources including SEC filings, US Secretary of State corporate databases, country registration databases, news articles, official company websites and/or directly contacting companies. The analysts investigate and track any potential change from initial alert until resolution. In cases where a company is being assigned a new identifier, we maintain both the old and new company identifier until each one of our content providers has made the change. Our analysts, based in New York and London, deal with about 1000 concordance changes per week and they are the best in the business. Next concordance post: Who needs it?
