Fellow Knight-Ridder refugee Ken Doctor "tagged" me over the holidays. Ken had been tagged by another K-R alum, David Scott. It's like a chain letter for bloggers. I'm supposed to reveal 5 things about myself and then tag 5 of my favorite bloggers.
1) In the late 80s I was a guest TV commentator covering technical analysis on Financial News Network. I was the editor of a weekly market newsletter and was a follower of Laszlo Birinyi, who was then at Salomon Brothers.
2) I'm allergic to apples.
3) I have a small collection of antique maps (
a 1663 Visscher being the most valuable) and several Baedeker's travel guides from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
4)College job: I worked for The Pyramid Companies who built Crossgates Mall in Albany. Responsibilities included helping the consulting firms who were putting together the Environmental Impact Statement. How's this for variety: marking, releasing and re-catching Karner Blue butterflies with a world famous lepidopterist; spending days driving up and down Albany streets timing how long it took to get from point A to point B for the traffic study; surveying every small retailer in Albany to determine how many square feet of retail space there was in each categories; surveying shoppers about their attitude towards a new mall. By the way, catching butterflies with a butterfly net is much harder than it looks.
5) My youngest son is an aspiring stand-up comic.
Here are the bloggers I'm tagging: Barry Graubart, Ian Kennedy, Pierre Wolff, John Blossom, Russell Perkins. I would have tagged Roger Ehrenberg but someone got to him first.
