In Sunday’s New York Times business section there was a long profile on Bloomberg, (the information business) which was quite good.
Something I thought was amazing: The New York Times Crossword Puzzle today (special subscription required) had this subtitle: “As a demonstration of speed puzzle construction at the 28th American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, on March 11 in Stamford, Conn., Mike Shenk took a theme proposed by the audience and created this puzzle, start to finish, without computer-assisted fill, in 60 minutes. Later, in a race to solve it, Trip Payne, of Boca Raton, Fla., finished first, in 3 minutes. About two-thirds of the audience completed the puzzle correctly within the 15-minute time limit.”
As a follow-up to my post mentioning NY Senator Schumer going after West, the New York Times reported Friday that Westlaw plans to curtail access to personal data. While this is an important step forward for privacy advocates, it will certainly make things more difficult in the compliance world.
