I can’t really take sides in the desktop battle being fought between Thomson and Reuters. But a new wrinkle is the rumored separation of Bloomberg’s data from Bloomberg’s box, as was reported today in the New York Post. This would be quite a strategic shift, with Bloomberg finally realizing that not everyone needs a terminal and that some customers want to build their own displays and applications with Bloomberg data. It will be interesting to see how this gets priced.
